When Nick first reached out to me about photographing a surprise engagement at the Boston Harbor Hotel, I was beyond excited. As a Boston photographer this is one of my favorite areas of the city, what an iconic location!
Leading up to the day for the planned proposal, it had rained almost every Saturday for almost two months. So, you could say that Nick and I were cautiously optimistic when we met a week prior to go over the timing of everything.
As luck would have it- the day of the proposal was beautiful. The sun was out and the city abuzz with people excited to be out on a summer night in Boston. I arrived at the Boston Harbor Hotel an hour early to make sure I was where I needed to be. Nick texted me that they were walking, and I played tourist while being ready to capture the moment.
There is something really special about photographing these intimate moments. It sounds cliche to say that “it’s an honor”, but it truly does feel that way. Knowing that you’re documenting a day that your clients won’t forget is something I don’t hold lightly.
While Nick proposed to Aly under the beautiful Boston Harbor Hotel, I stood on the outskirts photographing and letting them have their private moment from a distance. Then we met up and had fun walking along the Harborwalk.
From there, we walked to the Rose Kennedy Greenway, and even stopped in front of the Dark Bar to snap a few photos. The energy was high on love, and was exciting to photograph.
After a few more shots at the Rose Kennedy Greenway, I said my “goodbyes” and headed to Mama Maria’s for another surprise. Nick and Aly’s family was waiting there to congratulate them for a special dinner. The love Nick and Aly they had not just for each other, but for their families was beautiful to witness. I came home late that night with a smile on my face. Congrats Nick & Aly!
